This November, the enchanting sounds of “Crystal Waters” will ripple across the stage of the Junior Eurovision Song Contest 2024 in Madrid. Representing Cyprus after a seven-year hiatus, the island’s youngest talent, 11-year-old Maria Pissarides, is ready to make her mark. At just 11, Maria Pissarides is no stranger to the stage. With a passion for singing, acting, and dancing, she has already graced the theatre in London’s iconic musical Matilda. Maria’s artistic flair is not only in performance but also in songwriting, having earned third place in the 2023 European Radio Songwriting Competition with her team.
Maria’s days are filled with the vibrant life of a student at a performing arts school in the UK. Despite her busy schedule, she always finds time for simple joys, like painting, playing with her dog, and spending quality time with her two siblings. “I feel like I’m not just representing Cyprus, but Greece too,” Maria shared during a recent live YouTube talk, beaming with pride and excitement for the journey ahead.
