Madrid to Host Junior Eurovision 2024 with a 5.5 Million Euro Budget

RTVE, the Spanish national broadcaster, has allocated a budget of 5.5 million Euros for hosting the Junior Eurovision Song Contest 2024 in Madrid. This budget represents a notable investment, 42% lower than the 13 million Euros spent by Armenia in 2022, yet 250% higher than the budget used by Georgia in 2017.
RTVE has confirmed that it will collaborate with the entertainment agency Sold Out for the organization of this year’s contest. Sold Out formerly worked with RTVE on the Latin Grammy Awards held in Seville in 2023.
Junior Eurovision 2024
The 2024 Junior Eurovision Song Contest will take place on November 16 at the Caja Mágica in Madrid. This marks the return of the event to a Saturday slot for the first time since 2015. France, the winner of the previous contest, declined to host again, so Spain stepped in following their second-place finish in 2023.
The following countries have confirmed their participation so far:
- Estonia
- France
- Georgia
- Germany
- Ireland
- Italy
- Malta
- Netherlands
- North Macedonia
- Poland
- Spain
- Ukraine
This year’s event will start at 18:00 CET, which is earlier than previous years, to better accommodate viewers across Europe. This earlier time is intended to ensure the broadcast is suitable for young audiences in both Eastern and Western Europe, balancing the time difference to avoid late-night viewing.
