Belgium Gears Up for Eurosong 2025: Exciting Line-Up Revealed!

The anticipation for Eurosong 2025 has just hit a new high as Belgian media outlet Het Laatste Nieuws unveiled the first wave of participants. While the VRT has yet to officially confirm the news, the track record of the newspaper in breaking Eurovision-related news has proven accurate in the past, adding to the excitement surrounding Belgium‘s national selection.
According to the report, auditions were held at the VRT headquarters on Reyerslaan recently, with a panel of more than thirty experts selecting a total of eight candidates for the highly anticipated preselection.
The First Participants
The early list of contestants includes some familiar faces and rising stars. Leading the pack is Jelle Van Dael, former frontwoman of dance group Lasgo, who impressed with her performances on the VTM programme Sing Again earlier this year. Joining her is LEEZ (Lisa Van Rossem), the sister of well-known singer Metejoor. LEEZ herself has gained recognition for her appearances on Tien Om Te Zien.
Fans of Hooverphonic will be thrilled to see former frontwoman Noémie Wolfs returning to the Eurovision sphere. Wolfs was the lead singer of Hooverphonic between 2010 and 2015 and was part of the band when they represented Belgium at Eurovision in 2021 with The Wrong Place.
Also competing is Red Sebastian, the alter ego of Seppe Hereman, a rising talent who previously showcased his vocal skills in Sing Again, and who even performed a duet with Jelle Van Dael on the show.
Surprising Omissions and Speculation
While the confirmed participants are generating excitement, some popular names didn’t make the cut. Boy band De Romeo’s and singer Pauline Slangen reportedly auditioned, but weren’t selected. Even Luka Cruysberghs, another former Hooverphonic frontwoman, was rumoured to have submitted a song, but was left out for the second consecutive time.
On the bright side, Grace, winner of The Voice Belgium 2021, has successfully secured a spot in the line-up, and fans are eager to see what she’ll bring to the stage.
Eurosong 2025: What We Know So Far
Details about the format for Eurosong 2025 remain under wraps, though there’s speculation about two semi-finals leading up to a grand live final. Whether the participants will present two songs each, as in the Songclub format of 2023, remains to be seen.
As of now, VRT has not released any official statements or dates for the preselection rounds, leaving fans in suspense.
Belgium’s path to Eurovision 2024 in Malmö ended in disappointment when Mustii failed to qualify for the grand final. The country is now more determined than ever to return stronger in 2025. With a line-up of high-calibre talent, there’s hope that Belgium will regain its status as a Eurovision powerhouse.
