Mustii Reflects on Eurovision Experience: «I Am Not Proud of My Performance»

Belgian singer Mustii, whose real name is Thomas Mustin, has opened up about his recent experience in this year’s Eurovision Song Contest. In a candid Instagram post, Mustii reflected on his performance and the personal impact it had on him.
A Disappointing Performance
In May, Mustii failed to advance to the Eurovision final with his song «Before The Party’s Over», finishing 13th in the semi-final. This result was a hard blow for the singer, who confessed he was not satisfied with his performance. «Honestly, I am still recovering. During the journey, I was not the happiest man for various personal reasons, but I won’t go into that now,» Mustii wrote.
Lost Connection and Self-Evaluation
The singer admitted to feeling disconnected during his performance and not being at his best. «I had highs and lows, and I am absolutely not satisfied with the final result, nor proud of my performance. I wasn’t fully connected to what was happening around me,» he expressed.
Mustii also questioned whether he was the right person to represent Belgium in the contest. «Between us, I’m not sure if I was the appropriate person for this competition, even though I learned a lot and met some wonderful people,» he added.
Life Philosophy and Lessons Learned
Despite the disappointment, Mustii highlighted the importance of learning from experiences, whether good or bad. «My philosophy has always been this: try, fail, persevere, grow, change perspective, and transform. That’s what my parents taught me, and that’s what I try to live by, with humility and passion,» the singer reflected.
Prospects and New Music
Far from being discouraged, Mustii is already working on new projects. He revealed that he is preparing a new album, which promises to be more free, more queer, more personal, positive, and festive. «It will be my response, my reaction, my cry for life,» said Mustii, indicating his desire to rediscover joy in music.
A New Perspective
Despite the criticism and the Eurovision result, Mustii maintains a positive and resilient attitude. «Some will say I’ve lost feathers or burned my wings… But I disagree. On the contrary, I have gained new feathers,» he remarked, demonstrating his determination to move forward and evolve as an artist.
Having taken some time to rest in Thailand, Mustii has used this experience as an opportunity to reflect and grow. With new projects on the horizon, his fans can look forward to a new chapter in the career of this talented Belgian singer.
Well, let’s be honest. It wasn’t the best performance, it wasn’t the best song and it wasn’t the best staging! Who came up with those mikes, more than needed. Doesn’t it remind you of Kate Ryan’s mikes, who also failed to make it to the Grand Final?!
