“What the Hell Just Happened?” indeed – Remember Monday’s Holly-Anne Hull loses her wedding ring after Eurovision

The morning after the Eurovision night before isn’t just a song lyric – it’s a whole lifestyle, as Remember Monday’s Holly-Anne Hull has just discovered. The UK’s country-pop trio may have come 19th out of 26 in this year’s Eurovision final in Basel, but that’s not what’s made headlines this time. It’s something far more personal – and sparkly.

In an Instagram video posted the morning after their performance, a visibly drained (and still slightly glitter-dusted) Hull broke the news mid-flight:

I’ve lost my wedding ring and my engagement ring,” she said, as her bandmates nodded in a mix of sympathy and mild disbelief.

Yes, dear reader, somewhere between a Swiss stage and a Heathrow baggage claim, two very meaningful rings vanished into the Eurovision ether.

A lyrical disaster befitting the song itself

The irony? The band’s song What the Hell Just Happened is about the chaos of the morning after a big night out – a theme that suddenly feels a little too on the nose. Hull, who tied the knot in June 2023, half-joked in the video:

I’m gonna have a breakdown ‘cause I’ve lost my wedding ring.

Let’s just say she’s not the only one asking what the hell just happened.

No public love, but plenty of British heart

Despite the theatrics and their toe-tapping tune, Remember Monday ended up with a grand total of 88 points, all courtesy of the jury. The public televote? A frosty zero – proving once again that Eurovision is a cruel mistress. Still, the trio took it like true professionals, thanking fans and still managing a laugh on social media. Hair gel still intact, knees sore, but humour fully British.

A Eurovision to remember… or forget?

The UK may not have won the Eurovision crown, but they certainly left with a story. Austrian electro-balladeer JJ ultimately stole the night with Wasted Love, snatching victory from Israel in the final seconds. Meanwhile, Estonia and Sweden followed, the latter represented by sauna-loving comic group KAJ, who’ve somehow topped the Swedish charts for three months with a song about, well, steam.

So, what’s next for Remember Monday? Hopefully a replacement ring, some well-earned rest – and perhaps a future where the jury gives them points and the public gives them… something.
