UK Chooses Remember Monday: Not Just a Monday, It’s Remember Eurovision!

The white smoke has finally cleared. The United Kingdom—proud member of the elite Big 5—has announced this morning that the all-female band Remember Monday will succeed Olly Alexander in representing the Union Jack at the upcoming Eurovision Festival, set to take place from 13 to 17 May in Basel.
The announcement was made on BBC Radio 2’s «Radio 2 Breakfast Show with Scott Mills«. Alongside the reveal of the new representatives, the band’s Eurovision entry—a rock ballad with electronic touches titled «What the hell just happened?«—was played for the first time. The band, who first appeared on the talent show «The Voice» in 2019, released an EP last October and has over a million streams on Spotify with their 2021 single «Fat Bottomed Girls».
Once again, the BBC has opted for an internal selection, a method they have followed since 2019 when they retired the «Eurovision: You Decide» format. The UK will kick off the final on Saturday, and for Remember Monday this isn’t just another Saturday—it’s the moment that transforms into Remember Eurovision!
