UK Prepares for Eurovision 2025 with New Talent Hunt

The United Kingdom is gearing up for Eurovision 2025 with an exciting plan to find its next artist and song. With the 69th edition of the Eurovision Song Contest set to be held in Basel, Switzerland, following Nemo’s victory in 2024, the BBC and BBC Studios are putting all their efforts into selecting an act that will capture hearts and votes.
Leading the charge is David May, a heavyweight in the UK music industry and former manager of Eurovision 2022-star Sam Ryder, who brought the UK to runner-up glory in Turin. May has been working with the BBC since early this year, collaborating with record labels, songwriters, publishers, and the BBC’s own music platforms to uncover the next big name for the contest.
“I’m thrilled to be working on this journey again,» says May. «We’re looking for an authentic artist with a story, someone who can deliver a three-minute performance that truly connects with audiences across Europe and beyond.”
Andrew Cartmell, Executive Producer of BBC Studios North and Head of Delegation for the UK at Eurovision, is equally excited about the collaboration: “David was key to Sam Ryder’s success. He understands the magic of Eurovision and how to get it right.”
As Eurovision fever grows, the UK is aiming high once more. After all, with an average audience of nearly 8 million tuning in to the Grand Final last year, expectations are soaring. The act and song that will represent the UK will be announced by March 2025, ahead of the contest’s final showdown in May. Can the UK bring the trophy home? Only time will tell, but the search for that winning magic has already begun.
