The internet’s having a collective meltdown: Maro and Shawn Mendes have been spotted together throughout the year, sharing coffee in Los Angeles and looking far too happy for this to be “just mates”. Naturally, the paparazzi pounced, and now Twitter (sorry, X) and Instagram are playing amateur detectives. Verdict so far? Suspiciously photogenic.
Instagram doesn’t lie (well… not all the time)
On 6 August, Maro — full name Mariana Brito da Cruz Forjaz Secca for those who like their syllables — dropped five snaps on Instagram featuring the Canadian heartthrob. Caption? A cryptic “Joãoooo” and a white heart emoji. Were they laughing at an inside joke, a bad latte, or the fans’ impending frenzy? Only they know.
From Turin to the world… and onto Shawn’s tour bus
The Portuguese singer, who represented her country at Eurovision 2022 with saudade, saudade, has been personally invited by Shawn to open his European tour. London, Amsterdam, Madrid, Cologne, Kraków and Lisbon are all on the list. Is this purely professional… or a masterplan to rack up more quality time? We’ll let you decide.
Shawn, meanwhile, kicked off his On The Road Again tour on 2 August, which will later sweep across North America. In Lisbon, on the 28th, the MEO Arena will be packed to the rafters — tickets originally priced between €45 and €120.
