Gonzalo Pinillos to Fly Spain’s Flag at Junior Eurovision 2025 – Broadway Dreams and a Piano in Tbilisi

Gonzalo Pinillos will go to Tbilisi in December

Gonzalo Pinillos, a 14-year-old musical wunderkind from Madrid, is set to represent Spain at the Junior Eurovision Song Contest 2025 in Tbilisi, Georgia. RTVE confirmed the news this week, putting an end to months of speculation – and giving eurofans another reason to cheer (or argue, because this is Eurovision after all).

Pinillos, who narrowly missed out on competing in 2024, described the opportunity as “a dream come true”. The young performer is no stranger to the stage, having already appeared in major musicals such as School of Rock and Los chicos del coro. If anyone can belt out a ballad while playing the piano and looking heartbreakingly sincere, it’s him.

A Junior Eurovision Star in the Making?

RTVE revealed that 270 hopefuls submitted entries this year, but Pinillos stood out thanks to his experience and his sheer enthusiasm. Speaking at his first official media appearance as Spain’s representative, he admitted:

“Last year it wasn’t meant to be, but this year I’ve reached my goal – and that makes it even more exciting.”

He also hinted at what he’d like to perform: ideally a moving ballad with a “beautiful message”, accompanied by a piano – because nothing says “vote for me” like a heartfelt key change and a tear or two on live television.

From Wicked to Tbilisi

During the press conference, Pinillos treated journalists to an impromptu rendition of “Defying Gravity” from Wicked, proving his theatre credentials and leaving no doubt that he can hit those big, emotional notes.

The big question now is: will Spain finally snatch the Junior Eurovision crown again? The last Spanish representative, Chloe DelaRosa, put up a decent fight in 2024, but the trophy went to Georgia’s Andria Putkaradze.

Pinillos will take to the Junior Eurovision stage on 13 December 2025, hoping to win over Europe (and, let’s be honest, a very vocal Twitter crowd).
