Eurovision 2025: Sissal Wins Dansk Melodi Grand Prix – A Fresh Start for Denmark?»

Last night, the Jyske Bank Boxen in the Danish city of Herning bore witness to the selection of Denmark’s next Eurovision representative, set to perform at the contest in Basel from 13th to 17th May. In the Dansk Melodi Grand Prix, the competition unfolded in two rounds. In the first round, eight artists took to the stage under the watchful eyes of both the audience and the jury. The top three advanced to the final round, where the winner was determined by combining votes from the public (televote) with those of a jury composed of 10 Danish and 10 international members.

The finalists advancing to the final round were: Tim Schou, Adel The Second, and Sissal.

And the winner is…

Here’s the voting breakdown:

International Jury Ranking:

  • Sissal – «Hallucination»: 20 points
  • Adel The Second – «The Unluckiest Boy Alive»: 16 points
  • Tim Schou – «Proud»: 14 points

Televote Ranking:

  • Tim Schou – «Proud»: 23 points
  • Sissal – «Hallucination»: 18 points
  • Adel The Second – «The Unluckiest Boy Alive»: 9 points

Final Ranking:

  • Sissal – «Hallucination»: 38 points
  • Tim Schou – «Proud»: 37 points
  • Adel The Second – «The Unluckiest Boy Alive»: 25 points

Ultimately, the singer from the Faroe Islands has been crowned Denmark’s next representative. With her victory, Denmark hopes to break the streak of failing to reach the final since 2019. The nation will perform in the second semi-final on Thursday, 15th May.

Is this the beginning of a new Danish renaissance at Eurovision ? Only time – and social media – will tell.
