Benidorm Fest 2025: TVE Introduces Groundbreaking Changes to Heighten Final’s Thrill

Against the picturesque backdrop of Benidorm’s music lookout, RTVE unveiled the eagerly anticipated updates for the fourth edition of the Benidorm Fest 2025. With official dates confirmed and the announcement of two major changes, the event promises an unforgettable experience for participants and viewers alike.

Confirmed Dates and a Voting Revolution

The Benidorm Fest 2025, TVE’s selection platform for Eurovision, will hold its semifinals on Tuesday 28 January and Thursday 30 January. The grand final, where finalists will vie for the coveted Bronze Microphone, is set for Saturday, 1 February. During a press conference, Ana María Bordas, César Vallejo, and María Eizaguirre announced a highly anticipated modification to the voting system, addressing fans’ long-standing requests.

Previously, the detailed results of the semifinal votes were disclosed, diminishing much of the suspense for the final. This year, however, TVE will reveal the names of the finalists in random order, without disclosing their scores or rankings. «We aim to maintain the tension and excitement until the very last moment, akin to Eurovision,» Bordas explained.

Beatriz Luengo Joins as a New Advisor

Another highlight of the press conference was the announcement of Beatriz Luengo joining the Benidorm Fest’s advisory team, which includes Tony Sánchez-Ohlsson, Rayden, and Pablo Cebrián. Luengo, who served as jury president in 2024, brings her extensive experience as a music producer and composer. «I embrace this challenge with great pride and responsibility,» Luengo remarked in a recorded message.

Technological Advancements and International Alliances

The Benidorm Fest 2025 is also embracing technological innovation and international expansion. José Luis Muñoz, RTVE’s Director of Production and Technical Media, revealed that the festival would be broadcast in ultra-high definition, ensuring top-notch visual quality. Additionally, a future collaboration with the iconic Viña del Mar Festival in Latin America was teased. «We want the Benidorm Fest to cross borders and become a global reference,» Muñoz stated.

Representing past winners, Nebulossa shared their gratitude and experiences during the event. «Participating in the Benidorm Fest has been an incredible experience that has opened many doors for us,» said Mery Bas, Nebulossa’s lead vocalist.

Record Participation in Junior Eurovision

Lastly, RTVE celebrated a record number of entries for Junior Eurovision, set to be held in Madrid later this year. «We have received twice as many submissions as last year, reaching 300,» announced César Vallejo. This surge reflects the growing interest of young artists in this prestigious contest.

The Benidorm Fest 2025 promises a season full of surprises and excitement, solidifying its status as one of Spain’s premier music events and a beacon for emerging talent. The countdown has begun, and the anticipation couldn’t be higher!
