Eurovision Drama: Olly Backs Out, Who Will Represent Italy Now?

The beauty of Eurovision? It’s utterly unpredictable. Between controversies, last-minute withdrawals, and plot twists fit for a soap opera, every day brings something new as we count down to 13th May, when Basel will open its doors to the next edition of the Eurovision Song Contest.
Today, the freshly crowned winner of the 75th Sanremo Festival, Olly, has thrown in the towel and announced that he will NOT represent Italy at Eurovision. He broke the news via Instagram, claiming that his focus is on touring and that he needs to connect with his audience. Connect with his audience… or dodge a disastrous result? After all, bookmakers didn’t even have him in the Top 10. 🤔
Now, RAI is in a tight spot and must scramble to find a replacement. Interestingly, Lucio Corsi, Sanremo’s runner-up, has already stepped forward, saying it would be «an honour» to represent Italy in Basel. Will he be the chosen one? We’ll find out in the coming days.
