San Marino Confirms Participation in Eurovision 2026 with a Brand-New National Selection

San Marino has officially confirmed its participation in the Eurovision Song Contest 2026, set to take place next May in Vienna. The announcement comes alongside the launch of a three-year agreement (2026–2028) between the State Secretariat for Tourism and Information, San Marino RTV, and Media Evolution, which will produce a completely revamped national selection: the San Marino Song Contest.
A New Format, Bigger Ambitions
The San Marino Song Contest will introduce a fresh format featuring two semifinals and a grand final where the winner will earn the honour of representing the Republic of San Marino on Eurovision’s biggest stage.
Federico Pedini Amati, Secretary of State for Tourism and Information, highlighted the wider strategy behind the project:
“We are investing in a valuable tourism asset. The goal is to project the Republic of San Marino onto a continental stage, boosting both tourism and the economy.”
A Commitment to Quality and Talent
Roberto Sergio, Director General of San Marino RTV, reaffirmed the broadcaster’s mission to deliver high-standard productions:
“RTV confirms its public service mission, guaranteeing TV products of the highest technical and editorial standards while proudly carrying the name of San Marino across Europe.”
Meanwhile, Denny Montesi, CEO of Media Evolution, emphasised the festival’s role in developing emerging talent:
“Our role is to discover and prepare artists, offering them a top-level experience that equips them for the international Eurovision stage.”
Beyond Music: Identity, Culture and Tourism
The project marks a strategic collaboration between public and private partners, aiming to strengthen San Marino’s cultural identity while boosting its visibility on a European scale.
With Eurovision 2026 taking place in Vienna, the San Marino Song Contest promises a bigger platform, better artist preparation, and a stronger push to put the world’s smallest competing country firmly on the Eurovision map.
