Norway Confirms Eurovision 2026 Participation – MGP Returns With (Expected) Nordic Flair

Another week, another Nordic confirmation. This time it’s Norway that joins the growing list of nations preparing their glitter, sequins and strategic key changes for the Eurovision Song Contest 2026, set to take place in Austria.

According to Norwegian broadcaster NRK, not only will Norway participate, but they’re bringing back their ever-reliable (and occasionally chaotic) national selection: Melodi Grand Prix.

And let’s be honest: what would a Eurovision season be without at least one semi-final filled with pyro, violins and a singer brooding atop a rotating cube?

The Grand Prix We Know and Love (And Yell At)

Melodi Grand Prix, or MGP for the initiated, has long been Norway’s gateway to Eurovision glory. It’s the stage where national treasures are born, Twitter wars are waged, and televoters rise in arms when their favourite doesn’t win.

While NRK hasn’t yet spilled the full tea about the MGP 2026 format, rest assured: the drama will return. Expect semi-finalsa grand final, and, inevitably, a fanbase split over whether Norway should send an ethereal ballad or a techno-troll.

Nordic Solidarity (Almost)

With Finland and Denmark already in the mix, Norway becomes the third Nordic country to raise its hand for Eurovision 2026. Sweden, darling, we’re waiting for you – don’t be fashionably late again.

To Be Confirmed…

While we wait for NRK to unveil this year’s schedule, hosts, venue and contestants, one thing’s for sure: MGP is back, and it’s ready to make headlines. Again. Probably for the right reasons. Maybe.

Stay tuned – or risk being the last to know when someone in a feathered cape wins the televote by a landslide.
