Montesong Madness: Montenegro Confirms Eurovision 2026 Return — With Rules Fiercer Than a Key Change

Buckle up, Eurofans — Montenegro is officially back for Eurovision 2026 in Vienna! And yes, Montesong is returning too, but this year’s rulebook? Oh honey… it’s giving “Survival of the Fiercest”.
RTCG confirmed the news yesterday, casually dropping a new set of rules that basically scream: “Bring your A-game or don’t bother showing up.”
Montesong 2025: Less Meh, More WOW
Here’s the tea:
- New year, new bops only — no songs performed or published before 1 September 2025.
- Montenegrin voices on stage — but songwriters? Free-for-all! You can be from anywhere, darling.
- Two songs max per songwriter — because quality over quantity.
- Expert jury + SMS voting — it’s giving 50% strategy, 50% fan chaos.
Scoring works like this:
- Composition: up to 50 points
- Lyrics: up to 30 points
- Production potential: up to 20 points
Songs need at least 75 points to make the cut. RTCG expects up to 16 entries… aka 16 potential Eurovision memes or 16 potential hits in the making.
RTCG to Contestants: “Don’t Embarrass Us”
RTCG made it crystal clear: if the songs don’t deliver, they will go for an internal selection. Translation: if the Montesong bops aren’t bop-ing, RTCG’s gonna hand-pick their diva.
Oh, and performers? Don’t get too comfortable. RTCG also reserves the right to replace you. Yes, you read that right. Your song might make it to Eurovision — but you might not. Consider this the Montesong Hunger Games.
Vienna 2026: Montenegro’s Big Eurovision Glow-Up
With JJ’s “Wasted Love” securing Austria’s hosting gig, Montenegro’s delegation is eyeing Vienna like a diva eyeing her spotlight. After the buzz of Eurovision 2025, they know they need a moment.
Will Montesong deliver a dark horse banger? Or are we in for another chaotic meme entry? Either way, one thing’s certain: Eurovision 2026 just got way juicier.
