Joost Klein’s Eurovision Meltdown: A Talent Unhinged or Just Misunderstood?

The notorious Dutch musician Joost Klein is once again making waves, but not for the reasons you’d expect. Last night, the hosts of Vandaag Inside took another dig at him, following his antics at the Televizier-Ring Gala and his earlier disqualification from Eurovision. Klein’s behaviour, which was dismissed as “irritating” by panellists and fellow media personalities, has raised eyebrows across the Dutch entertainment world.

During the broadcast, panel members like Johan Derksen and René van der Gijp didn’t hold back their frustration. “This guy is becoming a nuisance,” said Derksen, referring to Klein’s puzzling attitude towards journalists and fans alike. It wasn’t just a matter of being awkward; Klein’s indifference bordered on disrespect. The musician, who was present at the gala honouring the legendary André van Duin, left the event mid-speech, leaving many questioning his grasp on reality. Van der Gijp even went as far as to say, «He belongs in a psychiatric ward.«

But what’s driving this unravelling? According to Vandaag Inside host Aran Bade, Klein’s eccentric behaviour started during Eurovision week in Sweden, when he refused to engage with the media. “It was funny at first,” said Bade, “but now it’s just rude. He doesn’t respect the people who support him.” Klein’s cryptic responses, like claiming that «scarcity of words creates more value,» have left fans and media baffled.

Despite his antics, Klein continues to grab headlines, with AVROTROS reportedly considering sending him back to Eurovision. Whether he’s a misunderstood artist or simply spiralling out of control, one thing is clear: Joost Klein isn’t going anywhere quietly.
