Malta Makes Its Choice: Aidan Wins MESC 2026 With “Bella”

The journey to find Malta’s next Eurovision representative is officially over — and the island has gone with a familiar face.

Aidan has won the Malta Eurovision Song Contest 2026 with “Bella”, emerging on top after a tightly fought final that kept the scoreboard busy right until the end.

A Full Night of Eurovision Energy in Ta’ Qali

The final, hosted by Keane CutajarDestiny Chukunyere and Gaia Cauchi, brought 12 artists to the stage at the MFCC in Ta’ Qali.

Musically, it was classic MESC: pop built for the Eurovision arena, Maltese-language entries proudly holding their ground, emotional moments, and the occasional wildcard designed to split opinion.

Adding extra sparkle to the night were guest performances from Baby Lasagna and Miriana Conte, a neat reminder of where this national final ultimately leads.

The Results, Without the Guesswork

The winner was decided by a combined vote of professional juries and the public, and while the margin wasn’t enormous, it was decisive.

Final Results

  1. Aidan – “Bella” – 283 points
  2. Matt Blxck – “Ejja lejja ħdejja ‘l hawn (The flute)” – 268 points
  3. Mychael Bartolo Chircop – “My Sweet Angel” – 136 points
  4. Mark Anthony Bartolo – “Mumenti sbieħ” – 87 points
  5. Matthew Cilia – “Brutality Mentality” – 84 points
  6. Denise – “Trophy” – 71 points
  7. Ema – “Achikuku (Don’t Think About It)” – 64 points
  8. Franklin Calleja – “Guide You Home” – 43 points
  9. Nathan Psaila – “Ganador” – 38 points
  10. Janice Mangion – “Univers” – 34 points
  11. Kelsie Borg – “Let a Girl Breathe” – 31 points
  12. Adria Twins – “Nerġà nqum” – 21 points

Aidan’s victory didn’t come without competition — Matt Blxck stayed firmly in the race — but “Bella” managed to connect just enough across both juries and televoters to take the crown.

Malta’s 55th Eurovision Representative

With this win, Aidan becomes Malta’s 55th representative at the Eurovision Song Contest. He will succeed Miriana Conte, who finished 17th in Basel last year with “Serving”.

Now, the focus shifts from the MFCC stage to the much bigger Eurovision arena. Staging, revamps, camera angles — all the familiar questions are already lining up.

But for now, Malta has its answer.

Aidan is heading to Eurovision with “Bella”.
And whether Europe falls for it or not, the island has made its choice — confidently, loudly, and very much on its own terms.
