Loreen Talks Spirituality, Eurovision Drama and Being a “Bridget Jones” in Heels

Loreen, the Swedish-Moroccan queen of Euphoria and Tattoo, is living proof that a dash of spirituality mixed with unapologetic geekiness can take you straight to Eurovision glory – twice. In an exclusive interview for the Spanish newspaper La Vanguardia, the 41-year-old superstar shared her thoughts on love, acceptance, and why chasing harmony is better than chasing trophies.
The two-time Eurovision champion will headline a euro-fuelled night in Sitges, a town near Barcelona, this 3 August, as part of the Festival Terramar CaixaBank. Sharing the stage with her will be Spain’s own Nebulossa – who gave us the iconic Zorra in 2024 – and Kuve, a Benidorm Fest darling. Basically, if you’re not in Sitges, you’re missing out on one of the most glamorous therapy sessions music can offer.
“Eurovision Is Not Fire Against Fire”
With Eurovision controversies still buzzing like an angry wasp, Loreen kept her words carefully measured:
“This community is more than politics. It’s millions enjoying a positive energy together. The danger is judging one person for a bigger problem – it kills unity. We can’t turn this into an ‘us versus them’ game. Bullying someone out is not the answer.”
Ah, the voice of reason – and a subtle eye-roll for those who think hashtags can fix everything.
“I’m a Geek. Basically, I’m Bridget Jones”
Forget the ice-cold diva image; Loreen sees herself as part of the fanbase:
“I’m not the coolest girl in the room. I fall, I say inappropriate things. I’m a total Bridget Jones.”
Honestly, who wouldn’t want to spill wine with her while gossiping about song key changes?
The singer also swears by crystal quartz tips to balance her energy, because – obviously – her creativity is basically a spiritual gym.
“The ‘no’s in my life made me stronger. Every time someone told me I couldn’t, it gave me the rebellion I needed to grow.”
And that’s how you win Eurovision twice, kids.
Tattoo, Flying Free and Sitges Fever
When asked about Tattoo’s uncanny resemblance to Flying Free (hello, early 2000s Pont Aeri nostalgia), Loreen laughed it off – she’s too busy soaking up the excitement of singing it live in Catalonia again.
“Eurovision is where my people are. Everyone belongs here. That’s the magic.”
So, Sitges: expect an electric night, a lot of goosebumps, and maybe a cheeky Bridget Jones moment or two.
