Italy’s Plan B: Lucio Corsi Steps in for Eurovision 2025

Italy has found its Eurovision 2025 representative. Following Olly’s unexpected withdrawal, RAI wasted no time in securing a replacement: Lucio Corsi, the singer-songwriter who finished second at Sanremo 2025, will take on the challenge of representing his country in Switzerland.
With his song «Volevo Essere un Duro» («I Wanted to Be a Tough Guy»), Corsi is set to bring his enchanted world to the Eurovision stage. However, there’s a small catch: live instruments are not allowed in the contest, which could pose a challenge for the artist, as he showcased his piano skills during his Sanremo performance. How will he adjust his staging without his beloved instrument?
We’ll find out on 17th May, when the Eurovision Grand Final takes place in Basel. One thing seems certain—his unusual duet partner from Sanremo’s cover night, Topo Gigio, won’t be making the trip… or will he?
