Olly Wins Sanremo, But Will He Go to Eurovision?

Last night, the grand final of the 75th Sanremo Festival took place – and let’s be honest, it was about as thrilling as watching paint dry. The only bright spot? Co-host Alessia Marcuzzi, who at least injected some much-needed humour into a night that, overall, had the excitement levels of a tax return.
Carlo Conti, the evening’s host, was as robotic as an ATM, a stark contrast to last year’s charismatic and dynamic Amadeus. Despite this, RAI has already confirmed him for next year. Is he secretly the festival’s lifetime host?
29 ARTISTS, PLENTY OF UPS AND DOWNS, AND A POLARISED RESULT
Under the watchful eyes of the audience, 29 finalists took to the stage at the Ariston Theatre. The results were decided by televoting, accredited press, and various radio networks. Here’s the final ranking:
- Olly – Balorda Nostalgia
2. Lucio Corsi – Volevo Essere un Duro
3. Brunori Sas – L’Albero delle Noci
4.Fedez – Battito
5.Simone Cristicchi – Quando Sarai Piccola
6. Giorgia – La Cura Per Me

28.Rkomi – Il Ritmo delle Cose
29. Marcella Bella – Pelle Diamante
Olly clinched the Leone d’Oro, but the crowd’s boos suggested that not everyone was on board with the decision. The placements of Achille Lauro (7th) and Giorgia (6th), one of the fan favourites, sparked particular outrage.
EUROVISION? OLLY ISN’T SURE
During the post-Sanremo press conference, Olly was asked whether he would represent Italy at Eurovision. His response? As vague as a politician’s manifesto: “I’m not sure, I need time to think about it.”
So, will he take the leap onto the Eurovision stage, or will Italy be forced to find another candidate? For now, the suspense continues.
