Switzerland Assembles Stellar Production Team for Eurovision 2025
Swiss broadcaster SSG SSR has unveiled the core project team tasked with producing the 69th Eurovision Song Contest, set to take place in Switzerland in 2025. The team, comprised of seasoned professionals and Eurovision veterans, promises to deliver a spectacular show that will captivate audiences worldwide.
Leading the Charge: Executive Producers
At the helm of Eurovision 2025 are Reto Peritz and Moritz Stadler, who will serve as joint Executive Producers. Together, they bear the ultimate responsibility for the show’s production, ensuring that every aspect runs smoothly and meets the high expectations of Eurovision fans.
Crafting the Show: Key Production Roles
Yves Schifferle, previously the Head of Delegation for Switzerland’s winning entry in 2024, steps into the role of Head of Show. Schifferle will be responsible for the creative output of the three televised shows – the two semi-finals and the grand final. This includes orchestrating elements such as the flag parade, postcards, and the voting sequence. His new role sees Daniel Meister taking over as Head of the Swiss Delegation for 2025.
Christer Björkman, a familiar name in the Eurovision community, returns as Head of Contest. With six previous stints in this role, Björkman will coordinate and produce the 2025 acts, as well as set the running order for the contest. Joining him is Tobias Åberg as Head of Production, overseeing technical production, stage construction, and IT infrastructure.
Ensuring Excellence: Additional Key Appointments
Bernhard Spahni takes on the role of Head of Project Management Office (PMO), bringing his experience as Global Head of Event Marketing for Red Bull. Nadja Burkhardt-Tracol will be Head of Event, acting as the primary liaison with the host city, ensuring seamless coordination.
The team also includes Manfred Winz (Head of Finance), Aurore Chatard (Head of Security), Kevin Stuber (Head of Legal), Thomas Pittino (Head of Marketing & Funding), Vassilis Donikian (Head of HR), Nicole Beutler (Head of Public Affairs), Henriette Engbersen (Head of the Public Value team at SRG), and Till Jendly (Assistant). This diverse and highly skilled group is now focused on bringing the vision of Eurovision 2025 to life.
Awaiting the Host City
While the core team begins its preparations, the anticipation builds around which Swiss city will host the contest. Basel, Bern/Biel, Geneva, and Zurich have all submitted bids, with the winning city expected to be announced in August.
Switzerland’s Eurovision Legacy and Historic Win
Switzerland’s relationship with Eurovision dates back to the inaugural contest in 1956, where Lys Assia won with «Refrain.» Another highlight came in 1988 when Celine Dion triumphed with «Ne partez pas sans moi,» launching her illustrious career.
The most recent victory in 2024 by Nemo, with their song «The Code,» marked a significant milestone. Not only did Nemo bring the Eurovision trophy back to Switzerland for the first time in over three decades, but they also made history as the first non-binary winner of the contest. «The Code» captivated audiences, amassing 365 jury points and 226 televote points, culminating in an impressive 591 points overall.
Looking Forward to 2025
As Switzerland gears up to host Eurovision 2025, the newly appointed production team is poised to deliver a contest that honours the rich legacy of Eurovision while embracing innovation and inclusivity. With a stellar team in place and the excitement of a home-ground advantage, Switzerland is set to create an unforgettable Eurovision experience. All eyes now turn to August, when the host city will be revealed, setting the stage for a spectacular celebration of music and unity.
