Norway Confirms Eurovision 2025 Participation Amidst Promises of Reform
Amidst swirling questions about Norway’s participation in the next Eurovision Song Contest, NRK has finally reached a conclusion after extensive discussions with the EBU and a thorough review of the newly published report.
«EBU’s Commitment to Improvement Gives Us Confidence,» Says NRK Music Chief
Stig Karlsen, the head of music for Melodi Grand Prix, shared NRK’s decision to join Eurovision 2025 with renewed optimism:
«EBU has acknowledged the issues from this year’s contest and is actively working on improvements. What we’ve learned, beyond their public announcements, is very encouraging. We are committed to working constructively to ensure Norway’s participation in Eurovision 2025. We will be there,» Karlsen stated.
While NRK has not received answers to all the measures EBU plans to implement, their path forward is clear.
Deadline and Confirmations: Norway, Set to Join a Growing List of Participants
The registration deadline for next year’s contest is set for mid-September, with approximately 16 countries already confirmed, including Sweden and Denmark. Karlsen emphasized NRK’s focus on ensuring EBU upholds the non-political ethos of Eurovision more rigorously:
«We hope EBU guarantees that ESC isn’t used as a political tool, as we saw some instances of this year. It’s also crucial that they improve communication, crisis management, and event security.»
As preparations for Eurovision 2025 ramp up, the commitment from NRK and the promises of reform from EBU pave the way for a hopeful and improved contest. Fans and participants alike can look forward to a Eurovision that honours its traditions while embracing necessary changes.

Hopefully, they’ll choose a better song than the one from ESC 2024.
