Festivali i Këngës 63: Albania Prepares to Reveal Eurovision Hopefuls for 2025

As the anticipation mounts, Albania is preparing to unveil the artists who will compete in the 63rd edition of Festivali i Këngës—the event that traditionally serves as the country’s selection process for the Eurovision Song Contest. On Monday, 7th October, the names of the participants will be announced, just a week after the song submission deadline closed. The public broadcaster, RTSH, is already hard at work reviewing the entries, with a jury meticulously evaluating each submission.

Since its Eurovision debut in 2004, Albania has used Festivali i Këngës as the launchpad for its Eurovision entries. This long-standing tradition has provided a steady stream of talented performers, some of whom have left a lasting mark on the contest. Albania’s inaugural attempt in Eurovision was a triumph—Anjeza Shahini with her song «The Image of You»soared through the semi-finals, finishing 7th in the grand final, a result that still resonates with pride in the Albanian music scene.

In 2025, the competition is set to celebrate Albania’s 20th year in Eurovision. A special Nostalgia Night has been planned as part of Festivali i Këngës, honouring the country’s journey through two decades of performances, triumphs, and unforgettable moments.

Albania’s Eurovision Journey: A Story of Resilience and Triumph

Since their debut in 2004, Albania has never missed a Eurovision Song Contest, proving themselves a resilient competitor. Although they’ve faced varying results, their best-ever finish came in 2012, when Rona Nishliu’s haunting ballad «Suus»stunned audiences, earning Albania a remarkable 5th place and 146 points. This remains the highest achievement in the country’s Eurovision history, and a benchmark every new entry aspires to exceed.

With ten qualifications for the grand final, Albania has proven that its passion for Eurovision runs deep. Each year, the country sends a mix of tradition, heart, and modern flair to the contest, proudly representing their musical culture on an international stage.

As we await the unveiling of this year’s Festivali i Këngës contestants, one thing is certain: Albania’s rich musical history and love for Eurovision ensures that the competition will once again bring forth unforgettable performances, inspiring not only local audiences but fans across Europe. The question on everyone’s mind is: will 205 be the year Albania finally secures a Eurovision victory?
