Croatia Eyes Eurovision Glory Once Again: Could 2025 Be the Year?

As the excitement for Eurovision 2025 begins to build, Hrvatska radiotelevizija (HRT) has officially launched the search for Croatia’s next Eurovision representative through its renowned national selection process, Dora 2025. This announcement comes hot on the heels of Croatia’s spectacular result last year, where they secured a remarkable second place — their best Eurovision performance in decades. With the momentum on their side, Croatia is now eager to bring home the coveted title. But what does Dora 2025 hold in store, and can Croatia go one step further this time?

Dora 2025: The Call for Entries

The Croatian national broadcaster, Hrvatska Radiotelevizija (HRT), has officially opened the call for submissions for Dora 2025. From 20 September 2024 until 15 November 2024, songwriters and performers have the opportunity to submit their original works, competing for the honour of representing Croatia at Eurovision.

The rules are clear: the entries must be unpublished and unreleased, ensuring fresh and exciting material for the competition. A professional jury will select 24 songs for the final show, along with 4 reserve entries. The criteria for selection? Pure artistic value, with an emphasis on the quality of music, lyrics, and overall composition.

The live final will be broadcast in February 2025 on HRT’s platforms, where both the public and jury will decide who will represent Croatia in the Eurovision Song Contest 2025.

Croatia’s Eurovision Legacy and Baby Lasagna’s Triumph

Croatia’s history at Eurovision has been marked by several highs and lows, but 2024 will always be remembered as the year Baby Lasagna captured the world’s attention. Her performance of Rim Tim Dagi Tim, a playful and bold fusion of pop , punk and traditional Croatian sounds, won the hearts of Eurovision fans and secured Croatia’s best result in decades – an impressive second place.

The infectious chorus and Baby Lasagna’s unapologetic stage presence created a viral sensation, with the song climbing charts across Europe. The success of Rim Tim Dagi Tim was a proud moment for Croatia, reminding the world of the country’s creativity and unique musical heritage.

With such a strong performance last year, expectations for Dora 2025 are high. Croatia’s Eurovision fans are eagerly awaiting the chance to see which artist will follow in Baby Lasagna’s footsteps and hopefully bring the coveted Eurovision trophy to Zagreb for the first time.

Looking Forward to 2025

As submissions roll in for Dora 2025, the question on everyone’s mind is: Who will be Croatia’s next Eurovision star? Will they be able to surpass Baby Lasagna’s success, or perhaps even win the whole contest? With a proud legacy and growing momentum, one thing is for sure – all eyes will be on Croatia in 2025.

Stay tuned for more updates on Dora 2025 as Croatia once again sets its sights on the Eurovision stage!
