Andorra Declines Eurovision 2025 Participation in Switzerland

The national broadcaster of Andorra, RTVA, has confirmed that the country will not be participating in the Eurovision Song Contest 2025 in Switzerland. This announcement dashes the hopes of many fans who had been anticipating a return of the small Pyrenean state to the beloved competition.

Despite numerous efforts and campaigns led by singer Susanne Georgi, who represented Andorra in 2009, RTVA has decided to sit out once again. Georgi has been actively pushing for Andorra’s return, even claiming to have had a verbal agreement with the Andorran Government for a comeback in 2022, which did not materialize.

Andorra’s Eurovision history is marked by its struggle to reach the finals. The country participated from 2004 to 2009 but failed to qualify each time. Their closest attempt was in 2007, when they finished 12th in the semi-finals with 80 points.

RTVA did not provide specific reasons for their continued absence from Eurovision, leaving fans speculating about potential financial or logistical challenges. For now, Andorra remains the only country in Eurovision history never to have made it to the final stage of the competition.

Andorra’s Eurovision Journey

Andorra debuted in the Eurovision Song Contest in 2004 and competed until 2009. Over these six years, the country struggled to make a significant impact, never advancing past the semi-finals. Their most promising entry was in 2007, when they came close to qualifying for the finals but ultimately fell short, finishing 12th with 80 points. Since their last participation in 2009, Andorra has remained absent from the contest, despite various campaigns and calls for their return.
